April 6, 2008

We went to breakfast and then played at the playground next to the beach for awhile. After some playing we headed back to our hotel room and got ready for the beach and packed up the car. Little did we know how our sunscreen would turn on us and leave us completely exposed to the harsh beach sun. We were wearing Coppertone Kids Continuous Spray 50 SPF. On the way home we all began to realize just how burned we were. It seems as though the sunscreen didn’t work at all. Eli’s face and the insides of his arms were pretty burned. Lee’s back, outsides of his arms, knees, and lower legs are fried and just my chest and lower legs are bad. Eli had a good time when he wasn't crying, but he kept having those awful toddler issues. You know when things don't go the way you think they should and the entire world seems to be against you, poor little man. He did finally settle down and have some fun playing in the sand. When Edel, Shady, and Rebecca got there he was much happier.

You're so lucky living so close to a beach!!! I'm sorry your sunscreen turned on you, but the pics are great!

Unfortunately, I'm not destined to a life of SPF 50 thanks to a recent skin cancer scare (which included many scrapings of my skin and subsequent stitches). It saddens me that I'll be too afraid to ever tan again though I'll want it like crazy!
